Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "foreign direct product rule").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead. (e.g., BIS).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., BIS +Huawei).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., China -tariff).

Simplest form: Use the simplest form of a term (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls" or "entity list" instead of "entity listing").

ITC Launches Its New 'Investigations Database System' Search Tool

The International Trade Commission has launched its new data management platform, the Investigations Database System (IDS). A major new feature is providing the ability to conduct searches of the centralized investigation database that generate in-depth results across multiple practice areas, the ITC said Jan. 12 in an announcement. IDS has the potential to provide "new perspectives and value-added insights for users," and will integrate with the ITC's existing Electronic Document Information System (EDIS) to share core investigation data.

GAO Concludes AD/CVD Process Insures Accuracy and Transparency

The antidumping and countervailing duty processes insure that proceedings are accurate and based on complete information, a Government Accountability Office report found. The report, released Jan. 9, was commissioned at the request of Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, in order to examine concerns that domestic companies may sometimes file petitions without merit to obstruct domestic market competition, the GAO said.

Commerce Finds Modified Engines Within Scope of Vertical Shaft Engine AD/CVD Orders

Modified vertical shaft engines with a vertical take off shaft and a horizontal crankshaft fall within the scope of the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on vertical shaft engines between 99cc and up to 225cc and parts thereof from China (A-570-124/C-570-125), the Commerce Department said in a Dec. 22 scope ruling. The scope ruling applied to modified vertical shaft engines, "such as the modified R210-S engine manufactured by Chongqing Rato Technology Co."
