UK Targets Russian Oil, Defense Sector With New Sanctions

The U.K. on Sept. 12 added three people and 27 entities to its Russia sanctions list as part of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office's recent announcement of 100 new sanctions targeting Russia's "shadow fleet" -- which carries Russian oil -- along with "key suppliers of military components."

The designations target Elena Malitckaia and Alexey Malitskiy, co-owners of the China-based electronics supplier Shenzhen Blue Hat International Trade Co., and Shanlik Shukurov, CEO of Mastel Makina and COO of Alt Capital.

The entities include 16 defense companies: Federal State Enterprise Anozit, Research Institute of Technical Systems "Sinvent," Bryansk Chemical Plant, Design Bureau Ikar, Elekond, NPO Poisk, Plant Mezon, Redkinsky Experimental Plant, Research and Production Enterprise Zvukotekhnika, Ruspolymet, Russian Institute of High-Power Radio Engineering, Sarapul Radio Plant, Scientific Institute Soliton, Technodinamika, Zavod Rekond and Mytishchi Instrument-Making Plant. The listings also include electronics companies Bin Yin JSC, Proton and Xin Yu.

The U.K. also sanctioned eight non-Russian companies, including Chinese companies Jin Tang Technology, Scorpion's Holding Group Limited and Shenzen Blue Hat International Trade Co.; Indian company Hayers Infotech Private Limited; Turkish company Mastel Makina Ithalat Ihracat Limited Sirketi; and Thai companies Phaeton Group Co., Soguzo Co. and Tecgr Co.
