OFAC Proposes New E-Portal for Sanctions Removal Requests
The Office of Foreign Assets Control is considering adding a new online portal for sanctioned people and parties to ask to be removed from the agency's Specially Designated Nationals List and other OFAC restricted party lists.

The new Sanctions Reconsideration Portal would collect specific information from the delisting petitioner and "provide a more efficient process for collecting and reviewing applications for reconsideration" of sanctions, OFAC said in a Federal Register notice released June 25. Parties would answer a list of questions about the reasons for their delisting request and would be asked to submit "supporting information" about why OFAC should consider lifting sanctions. Using the portal would be voluntary.
OFAC said it's looking to add an "electronic Sanctions Reconsideration Portal information collection" within its Reporting, Procedures and Penalties Regulations, and it's seeking public comments on the change, due by Aug. 25.
