Pursuing retirement, with all good intentions

A personal note: After 44 years of professional life, beginning as a young all-source CIA military analyst in 1980, I am embarking on retirement. I am filled with gratitude for the legions of former colleagues, in and out of government, with whom it's been my privilege to work. And I am honored to have served and represented not only "the United States" in multiple roles, but numerous entities in need of compliance counsel and investigative defense, as well as countless individuals who entrusted me with their legal well-being. Thanks to Wiggin and Dana LLP for a wonderful capstone. Now a new chapter unfolds.

David, you are true mensch. I will never forget how kindly, patiently and brilliantly you navigated the OFAC waters for me when I was making my film in Iran. I hope you enjoy this next chapter and that you continue to thrive intellectually, emotionally and physically. Thank you for being one of those who has made this world a better place.

Duty, honor country. Duty, honor, country. You served these goals for many years when with the government. And, remarkably, you served them mightily even after. We're a better place for you. Thanks Dave.

Dave—As one who was frightened at the idea of not having a full time job when I left the government in 2017, I can tell you that it’s been fine. Happy to discuss if you wish.

What a career and colleague (and TV star). David is the Forrest Gump of the legal world, having been involved in some of the most significant legal institutions and issues in the past 40+ years. Your retirement is well deserved.

It was an honor and a privilege--and a pleasure--to be your partner. Here's hoping that the unfolding next chapter is the best one yet.
