Wagner Introduces Bill to Combat China, Limit Its Global Influence
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO), Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement after she introduced the Export Control Enforcement and Enhancement Act. The legislation provides additional protections to ensure sensitive American technologies are not sold to foreign adversaries. Additionally, the bill forces companies wishing to sell sensitive items overseas to prove their products do not put American interests at risk.
“China has made it clear it intends to assert even more influence over the world for its own hostile reasons, and it is increasingly working with adversaries like Russia and Iran to do so. It remains vital the United States combat these efforts and ensure China cannot use sensitive American products, including technology and resources that would directly contribute to our adversaries’ military strength, and become even more of a threat to global stability and our national security. This bill will strengthen and streamline our export control processes so the Chinese Communist Party cannot circumvent these guardrails and exploit loopholes to further strengthen their own military.”
