Senate Resolution Would Call for Giving Frozen Russian Assets to Ukraine

Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., introduced a resolution Sept. 29 urging the executive branch and U.S. allies to seize frozen Russian assets under the jurisdiction of Group of Seven nations and disburse them to Ukraine in tranches of at least $10 billion a month until expended.

The measure is co-sponsored by Sens. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.; Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I. It was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Kennedy revealed Sept. 17 that he was drafting the legislation (see 2509170059). Two days later, six senators introduced a bill that aims to achieve the same goal in a slightly different way (see 2509230056).
