China Says It Approved Some Exports of Rare Earth Minerals

Days after U.S. officials said they secured an agreement for Beijing to rein in its export curbs on critical minerals (see 2506110044), China announced it has approved license applications for those exports, but didn't offer more details.

China "has approved a certain number of compliant applications in accordance with the law, and will continue to strengthen the approval of compliant applications," a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said during a regular press conferencein Beijing June 19, according to an unofficial translation. "China is willing to further strengthen export control communication and dialogue with relevant countries in this regard, and actively promote convenient and compliant trade."

The spokesperson also said Beijing "has always attached great importance to maintaining the stability and security of the global supply chain, and has continuously accelerated the review of rare earth-related export license applications in accordance with laws and regulations."
