The Consumer Product Safety Commission is revising its mandatory safety standard for all-terrain vehicles to add in the latest industry standards from the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, it said in a final rule. The 2017 update to standard ANSI/SVIA 1-2007 adds new requirements for stop lamps or combination tail stop lamps on all adult and transition category ATVs, as well as head or conspicuity lamps on all youth ATVs, CPSC said. It also includes new requirements for reflectors on all categories of ATVs. The standard hadn’t been updated since 2010. Compliance with the new standard is required beginning Jan. 1, 2019.
