Two attorneys with Sandler Travis, Sarah Yuskaitis and Joshua Rodman, were promoted to members, the firm announced. Yuskaitis joined Sandler Travis in 2017 and primarily advises clients on antidumping and countervailing duty and trade remedies proceedings. Rodman joined the firm in 2019 and centers his practice on export controls and sanctions compliance.
Enbar Toledano, of counsel in Wiley Rein's International Trade, Litigation and Issues and Appeals practices, was appointed to the U.S. roster for USMCA Chapter 10 disputes for 2023-24, the firm announced. Toledano carries international trade and administrative law experience, representing clients before the Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and USMCA panels, the firm said.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative reappointed Akin Gump attorney Devin Sikes to a third term as a U.S. arbitrator for USMCA Chapter 10 disputes, which address appeals challenging antidumping and countervailing duty determinations, the firm announced. Sikes' term will expire March 31, 2024.
David Vance Lucas, former head of Bradley Arant's international practice group, has joined Womble Bond as a partner in the Corporate and Securities Group, the firm announced. Lucas' practice will center on his experience providing advice on intellectual property, international trade and complex litigation matters, the firm said. Specifically, Lucas has worked on proceedings involving foreign direct investment, export controls and data protection throughout the U.S. and Europe and before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S.
Sandler Travis ownership and management will transfer from founders Lee Sandler and Tom Travis to a six-member Operating Committee and a seven-member Advisory Committee, the firm said.
Thomas Feddo, former assistant Treasury secretary for investment security, joined Patomak Global Partners as a senior adviser. Feddo will advise on "sanctions and foreign investment-related risks for domestic and international conglomerates and financial institutions," the firm said this week. Feddo served at Treasury from 2018 to 2021, where he led the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S.
Katherine Monge, former senior counsel to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will join Capitol Tax Partners as a partner in June. As Pelosi's lead adviser on "tax, trade, economic, and budgetary issues," Monge was a lead negotiator on various legislative initiatives, including the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the firm said. The government relations and tax policy firm said she will offer advice on legislative and regulatory policy matters before Congress and the administration.
DOJ will add more than 25 new prosecutors to "investigate and prosecute sanctions evasion, export control violations and similar economic crimes," Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said during a March 2 American Bar Association conference. Monaco also said the agency's National Security Division and the Commerce and Treasury departments will begin issuing joint advisories on national security enforcement trends, and DOJ will make a "substantial investment" in the Bank Integrity Unit -- part of the Criminal Divisions' Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section. Monaco's comments came the same day another DOJ official said the agency plans to add a "significant number" of export control prosecutors, including a new chief counsel for corporate enforcement (see 2303030035).
Kelsey Griswold-Berger, a former staffer for Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., joined ArentFox as a government relations director in the Washington, D.C.-based government relations practice, the firm announced. Griswold-Berger served on Capitol Hill for over 10 years, working with the Senate Finance Committee, and in the House with the Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Energy and Commerce, Appropriations and Financial Services committees, among others, the firm said. With Burr, she worked on "trade, tax, commerce, and judiciary issues," ArentFox said. Her practice at ArentFox will cover "trade, tax, health, nutrition and human services, and appropriations."
Doris Johnson Hines, an intellectual property lawyer, is about to become the newest administrative law judge at the International Trade Commission, according to a Feb. 23 ITC news release. She will begin work on Feb. 27. She currently is a partner at Finnegan and has "extensive experience in intellectual property litigation in both the public and private sectors leading teams in U.S. district courts, the USITC, and before arbitration panels," the announcement said.
