Report: China Approves Purchases of Nvidia H200 Chips

Beijing has given approval to several of Nvidia's Chinese customers to begin buying the semiconductor firm's H200 chips, The Wall Street Journal reported Jan. 28. The decision came during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's trip to China, the report said, and more than a month after President Donald Trump said he planned to allow the previously restricted exports (see 2512080059).

Chinese customs authorities had reportedly told customs agents earlier this month to bar imports of the chips (see 2601140028). That report came one day after the Bureau of Industry and Security announced plans to ease its license review policy for exports of H200 chips and their equivalents destined to China and Macau, as long as they meet certain security requirements and domestic demand conditions (see 2601130073).
