OFAC Sanctions Sinaloa Cartel Faction, Network

The Office of Foreign Assets Control this week sanctioned Los Mayos, an affiliate of the designated Sinaloa Cartel, for producing and trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, heroin and methamphetamine from northwest Mexico into the U.S. OFAC also sanctioned five people and 15 companies aiding Los Mayos just south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The agency sanctioned Juan Jose Ponce Felix, the founder and leader of the primary armed wing of Los Mayos, as well as Mario Alberto Herrera Sanchez, Karlo Omar Herrera Sanchez, Jesus Gonzalez Lomeli, Candelario Arcega Aguirre, Hilda Araceli Brown Figueredo for their ties to the cartel's operations.

OFAC also designated 14 businesses owned by Gonzalez, along with a transportation company owned by Arcega.

In addition, it sanctioned Carlos Alberto Paez Pereda for being a leader of the Sinaloa Cartel gang known as “Los Rugrats.”
