Lawmakers Praise BIS Rule Easing Export Controls on Syria
Senate Banking Committee ranking member Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, both welcomed the Aug. 28 release of a rule from the Bureau of Industry and Security easing licensing requirements for civilian exports to Syria (see 2508280029).

Wilson posted on X that the rule will remove “export controls on U.S. origin goods, software and technology that have purely civilian uses, consumer communications and certain civil aviation items to Syria. This will be a key step to Make Syria Great Again, bring prosperity to Syria, and box out fake Chinese reconstruction in favor of productive and real American companies.”
