OFAC Delists Company, Person Designated for Belarus Ties

The Office of Foreign Assets Control this week removed sanctions from a Cypriot company -- along with one of its senior officials -- that it designated in 2021 for its ties to the Alexander Lukashenko regime in Belarus.

OFAC had sanctioned Dana Holdings Ltd. for its connections to Serbia’s Karic family, which the agency said was considered close to Lukashenko and supported his declaration of victory in the country's "fraudulent" 2020 presidential elections. OFAC had also sanctioned Serbian and Cypriot national Nebojsa Karic for playing a "leading role in the company."

The agency removed both Dana Holdings and Karic from its Specially Designated Nationals List on Aug. 21. OFAC didn't provide more information, and an agency spokesperson didn't comment.
