TSMC Says It's Taking Legal Action Against People Accused of Stealing Trade Secrets
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has begun legal proceedings and taken “strict disciplinary actions” against former or current employees involved in stealing sensitive technology from the company (see 2508050043), it confirmed this week.

TSMC discovered the “unauthorized activities during routine monitoring, leading to the discovery of potential trade secret leaks,” a spokesperson said in an email. “Following an internal investigation, thanks to our comprehensive and robust monitoring mechanisms, we were able to identify the issue early.” The company said the case is “now under judicial review.”
TSMC “maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any actions that compromise the protection of trade secrets or harm the company’s interests,” the spokesperson said, adding that violations “are dealt with strictly and pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”
“We remain committed to safeguarding our core competitiveness and the shared interests of all our employees,” the company said. “To ensure this, we will continue to strengthen our internal management and monitoring systems and will work closely with relevant regulatory authorities as necessary to protect our competitive advantage and operational stability.”
