Bicameral Bill Would Label Muslim Brotherhood a Terrorist Group
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., reintroduced a bill July 15 that would require the executive branch to designate the Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

The lawmakers cited the Muslim Brotherhood’s support for violent extremist groups, including Gaza-based Hamas. The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act, which has more than a dozen co-sponsors, was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs and Judiciary committees.
