Senate Intelligence Bill Eyes More Reviews of Foreign Purchases of Land

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence approved an FY 2026 Intelligence Authorization Act July 15 that would provide additional reviews of foreign purchases of land near U.S. intelligence community facilities, according to a summary of the legislation.

The increased scrutiny is intended to protect sensitive installations against “drone threats,” said Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., the committee’s chairman. The legislation now heads to the full Senate.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence plans to mark up its version of the bill after the August congressional recess.
