House Bill Would Ease Arms Embargo on Cyprus
A bipartisan group of four House members reintroduced a bill July 15 that would ease defense export restrictions on Cyprus.

Current law bars defense exports to Cyprus unless the executive branch determines annually that the island country is cooperating with the U.S. on certain matters. The End the Cyprus Embargo Act would allow for that determination to occur every five years.
Reps. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., Dina Titus, D-Nev., and Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., are sponsoring the bill, which was referred to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
At least two other bills pending in Congress would ease or end the arms embargo on Cyprus (see 2506110007 and 2501100052).
