Following a meeting in London last month, U.S. officials said China agreed to lift export curbs over rare earths and the U.S. agreed to reverse certain export controls against China (see 2506270009). Both sides are “stepping up the implementation of the relevant results of the London framework,” the Chinese spokesperson said, according to an unofficial translation. “China is reviewing and approving qualified applications for export licenses for controlled items in accordance with laws and regulations. The U.S. has also taken corresponding actions to cancel a series of restrictive measures taken against China, and has informed China of the relevant situation.”
The spokesperson was referring to moves by the Bureau of Industry and Security last week to rescind China-related export restrictions on multiple electronic design automation companies and a gas and oil pipeline company (see 2507030009).
“The London Framework was hard-won,” the spokesperson said. “Dialogue and cooperation are the right path. Blackmail and coercion are not a solution.” Beijing hopes the U.S. will “continue to work with China, further correct its wrong practices, and take practical actions to safeguard and implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, so as to jointly promote the steady and long-term development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.”
