Yang Ming Marine Transport Didn’t Meet Contract Commitments, Shipper Says
Tennessee-based shipper Dollar General Logistics has accused Taiwanese ocean carrier Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. of failing to meet its minimum quantity commitments under service contracts for the period of May 2021 through April 2022, according to a new complaint filed with the Federal Maritime Commission.

Dollar General alleges that Yang Ming failed to ship 73% of the freight it was supposed to and sold bargained-for cargo space to other shippers at higher rates to maximize its profits. As a result, Dollar General said it was forced to obtain space at higher rates on the spot market, causing damages of at least $14.77 million.
Yang Ming didn’t respond to a request for comment.
