Law Non-Profit Calls for Australian Arms Embargo on Israel
Australia should impose an arms embargo on Israel along with other sanctions in response to human rights violations committed by the Israeli government and some Israeli citizens against Palestinians in the West Bank, the Australian Center for International Justice said.

The non-profit ACIJ applauded the country's decision earlier this month to sanction Israeli Cabinet members Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich for inciting violence against Palestinians (see 2506100013), but it said more needs to be done.
Acting Executive Director Lara Khider said Australia should "take further concrete action to hold accountable those responsible for ongoing grave breaches of international law and to prevent complicity in serious human rights violations" in the region, "including through the imposition of a comprehensive two-way arms embargo on Israel. Continued military trade and cooperation only serve to reinforce Israel’s unlawful occupation and empower its military apparatus.”
