Spanish National Pleads Guilty to Illegal Exports of Military Radios to Russia
A Spanish national living in the United Arab Emirates pleaded guilty on June 17 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to conspiring to illegally export U.S.-origin radio communications technology to Russian end users without a license, DOJ announced. Sentencing is set for Sept. 30.

Starting around January 2023, Bence Horvath and others started talks with a small U.S. radio distribution company about exporting U.S.-made military-grade radios and accessories to Russia. Horvath tried to buy those items over the next "several months," intending to transship them to Russia using a forwarder in Latvia, DOJ said.
Horvath bought 200 of the radios, though CBP detained them prior to shipment, DOJ said.
