AESDirect Update Will Allow All Users to See PGA Requirements, Census Says

The Census Bureau will soon update AESDirect, the filing tool used to submit electronic export information in the Automated Export System, to allow all AESDirect users to see the partner government agency requirements that have been integrated in AESDirect, the agency said in a May 15 email to industry. Currently, some PGA requirements “were based on Pilot participation and were only available to those participants,” Census said. AESDirect will be updated May 20.

When a Schedule B/Harmonized Tariff Schedule number is found in Appendix X -- the list of HTS codes for PGAs -- Census said “the appropriate PGA record will now be available to all filers in AESDirect based on each agency’s requirements. Shipments subject to PGA data requirements must submit a PGA record in the Automated Export System (AES).”

When reporting for PGA data, Census said export filers will now need to indicate “Yes” in step three to the question: “Does this filing require Participating Government agency data? The additional PGA data will then display for you to enter the appropriate data elements.”
