FCC Gives 2 Small VoIP Providers a Break on Reporting Forms
The FCC on Monday granted a waiver of the one-year downward revision deadline to revise the 2023 FCC Form 499-A filed by CNET System and a waiver of the 45-day revision deadline for the May 2024 499-Q Granade filed. Both small VoIP providers, CNET is located in Wisconsin and Granade in Alabama. The FCC Wireline Bureau and Office of the Managing Director noted that the agency usually doesn’t approve such waivers.

CNET's revenue reporting error caused it “to be classified as a non-de minimis filer" and "assessed USF fees that, but for its mistake, the company was not required to pay,” the FCC said. Granade, which also made an error in reporting revenue, "states that requiring the company to pay the invoices ‘would almost entirely exhaust Granade’s revenue, leaving Granade in a precarious financial position,’” the commissions said: “As such, in the limited circumstances presented here, we find that equity and hardship considerations weigh in favor of granting Granade’s request for waiver."
