New House Task Force on Foreign Arms Sales Holds First Meeting

The House Foreign Affairs Committee’s new task force on improving how the government handles foreign military sales (FMS) and export controls (see 2501220086 and 2502260047) held its first formal meeting April 2.

Lawmakers met behind closed doors with about two dozen representatives of defense contractors and technology companies. The new entity is expected to build on the work of an earlier task force that in February 2024 proposed a series of changes to speed up the delay-prone FMS process (see 2402080045).
