The Russia-North Korea Cooperation Sanctions Act would direct the president to sanction foreign persons involved in transferring arms or material support from North Korea to Russia’s military operations against Ukraine.
The bill also calls for sanctioning foreign persons who provide goods, services or technology for weapons to North Korea that could be used by Russian forces. Financial institutions that facilitate North Korea’s support for Russia’s military also could face sanctions.
The bill was referred to the House Foreign Affairs, Judiciary, Ways and Means, Financial Services, and Oversight and Government Reform committees. The Foreign Affairs Committee approved the bill in the last Congress.
