EU Launches New Sanctions Help Desk
The EU this week launched a new online sanctions help desk, featuring information on new sanctions, country-specific guidance, events, tips, compliance lessons learned and more. The help desk is geared toward helping small and medium-size companies carry out due diligence, and it will provide guidance on both EU and U.N. sanctions.

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.
"While there are instances where larger entities can benefit from support, the Helpdesk's focus is on [small and medium-size enterprises] as they typically have fewer compliance resources than large companies," the commission said.
The commission also said the help desk plans to partner with other government agencies, industry groups, financial institutions and "international sanctions and compliance organizations" to host events and training sessions. The first online event is March 27, when EU officials will present the services offered by the help desk and "how it can assist sanctions specialists with their compliance responsibilities and queries."
