Taiwan Creates Support Hotline for Businesses Affected by US Tariffs
Taiwan is setting up task forces and a consultation hotline to assist Taiwanese companies overseas that may be affected by new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs announced Feb. 4. The task forces will be set up in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Southeast Asia and South Asia to “provide real-time support” to Taiwanese businesses.

Taiwan also announced several other initiatives, including the creation of a new “service center for investment and trade in the U.S.” It will “support supply chain relocation” by helping Taiwanese businesses “assess investment environments, shift supply chains and link with local partners.”
The ministry “will remain committed to monitoring global trade trends and supporting Taiwanese businesses in adapting to market changes,” Taiwan said.
The announcement comes after a new 10% U.S. tariff on Chinese products took effect Feb. 4 (see 2502040011). Trump also announced tariffs against Mexico and Canada, but those have been delayed (see 2502030006).
