Senate Rejects Proposal to Curb Arms Sales to Israel

Resolutions by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to cut off bomb guidance kits, mortar rounds and tank ammunition failed by votes of 17-80, 19-78 and 18-79, respectively.
Sanders said his resolutions were aimed at weapons “that have been used to devastating effect against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.” Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., opposed the resolutions, saying they “would not only hurt Israel's ability to defend itself” but would “embolden Iran and its terrorist proxies to continue and even to increase their vicious and deadly attacks” against Israel.
