FMC Probing Pacific Ports Agreement
The Federal Maritime Commission is asking the parties to a West Coast ocean shipping and port agreement to provide more information about their alliance before an updated version takes effect, it said in a notice released this week.

The FMC said it’s probing the Pacific Ports Operational Improvements Agreement, under which a group of ocean carriers, shipping companies and terminal operators agree to share information about shipping policies and procedures “for the purpose of achieving operational improvements at Pacific Coast ports,” the agreement says. It was scheduled to take effect Dec. 31, 2025, but the FMC said its “action prevents the agreement from becoming effective as originally scheduled.”
Parties to the agreement have until Dec. 2 to submit comments to the commission.
