University of Kentucky Publishes Export, Sanctions Compliance Guidance
The University of Kentucky this week launched a new site to provide export control and sanctions guidance to students, researchers and other members of the school, warning that there are “severe consequences to noncompliance,” including fines and possible prison time. The site covers the basics of export controls, including which countries are subject to embargoes; research guidance; information on international shipping, travel and collaboration; compliance training; a set of FAQs; and more.

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.
“UK is committed to complying with all laws and regulations that pertain to export controls and sanctions,” the school said in a press release. “The site can help faculty, staff and students determine if their work is subject to export controls or sanctions compliance, to find exclusions and for guidance on required federal licenses.”
The Bureau of Industry and Security in August published information showing the types of export violations that universities are most commonly disclosing to the agency, what led to those violations and the steps the academic institutions took to improve their compliance programs (see 2408140049).
