Agricultural Exporters Ask Biden to Improve Rail Access to Mexico
The National Grain and Feed Association and nearly 200 other organizations and companies urged President Joe Biden in a letter last week to work with Mexico to address that country’s rail capacity problems, which they say are hindering U.S. agricultural exports.

"Mexico is our industry’s largest export market for many commodities and in the past year alone, over $30 billion worth of U.S. agricultural products have been exported to Mexico," the authors wrote. "However, limited access to this crucial market persists as North American trade growth has outpaced Mexican rail capacity. Immediate support from the U.S. government is urgently needed to restore full trade access with Mexico for U.S. agriculture."
The letter also seeks to have the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers use its dredging capabilities to ensure deeper navigation channels in the lower Mississippi River amid historically low water levels.
The White House had no immediate comment on the letter.
