“We are definitely working on it,” she told Export Compliance Daily after participating in a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Europe.

The House approved the Upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement Through Sanctions Act by a 365-30 vote in March (see 2403190069). Wagner has said her legislation is needed to protect the 1995 peace agreement, which is threatened by pro-secession Bosnian Serb leaders, including Serb Republic President Milorad Dodik.

During the hearing, witness James O'Brien, assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs, noted that the U.S. recently sanctioned companies and people tied to Dodik (see 2406180018). Wagner said she is "grateful for those sanctions against Dodik." O'Brien said that getting the EU to follow suit with sanctions could be difficult due to the need to achieve consensus among its members.
