Lawmakers Propose Renewing Nord Stream 2 Sanctions

The sanctions, which were signed into law in 2019 and halted construction of the pipeline, are set to expire at year's end. The proposed Securing Europe’s Energy Security Act (SEESA) would extend the sanctions until Jan. 1, 2031.

The lawmakers said the bill is needed to keep the Russia-to-Germany pipeline offline and limit Moscow’s influence in Europe.
