US, Citric Acid Importer Ask Court to Extend Discovery Deadline in 2019 Case

Importer TR International Trading Company submitted a May 28 consent motion to the Court of International Trade asking to extend its case’s discovery period to November 2024 (TR International Trading Company v. U.S., CIT # 19-00217).

The 2019 case involves CBP’s liquidation of the importer’s citric acid anhydrous from India under a Chinese antidumping duty rate; the agency found the products hadn't been substantially transformed by processing in India (see 2112220056).

TR said the attorneys for the case need more time to understand some of the legal and substantive aspects of the case, noting that both parties might need to send counsel to India to hold a deposition with a witness there.
