The process may have slowed certain customs procedures because inspection centers were required to sanitize packaging of imports and collect testing samples from random shipments, which could not be released until the results were available. Macau began testing its imports following reports that China detected COVID-19 on imported frozen foods in 2020. It’s unclear whether the island will continue checking imports for the virus.
