US Approves Military Sales to Switzerland, India

The State Department approved potential military sales to Switzerland and India worth more than $16 billion combined, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Sept. 30. The sales include three separate purchases by Switzerland and one purchase by India.

In Switzerland’s first purchase, the country would get more than $7 billion worth of F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft and related equipment. The principal contractors are Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and General Electric. Under the second sale, Switzerland would get 40 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft worth more than $6 billion. The principal contractors are Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing and Raytheon Missiles and Defense. The final sale includes five Patriot Configuration-3+ “Modernized Fire Units” and related equipment for about $2 billion. The prime contractors are Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.

The sale to India includes “follow-on support” for the country’s fleet of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft and related equipment for about $90 million. The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin.
