CPSC Proposes to Amend Regulations on Product Registration Requirements for Infant and Toddler Products

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is proposing to amend its regulations on durable infant and toddler products to clarify provisions related to mandatory consumer registration requirements for manufacturers. The agency’s proposed rule would match the definition of “durable infant or toddler product” to the full statutory definition; clarify that the scope of each listed product category is defined in the applicable mandatory standard; clarify listed product categories using the product name in the applicable mandatory standard; and clarify the scope of the infant carriers and bassinets and cradles product categories, CPSC said. Comments are due Dec. 24.
