CPSC Updates Garage Door Opener Safety Standard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is amending its mandatory safety standard for residential garage door openers to reflect changes to an industry voluntary standard, it said in a final rule. Under the proposal, CPSC’s Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators would be changed to include updates made in 2016 and 2017 to entrapment protection provisions in the Underwriters Laboratories’ UL 325 standard. The final rule takes effect Sept. 11.
